Photo Editor Cathy Remy of Le Monde’s M Magazine commissioned me to photograph the Los Angeles River for a cover story by Corine Lesnes. I spent three days photographing along the 51 miles from the headwaters in Canoga Park to its mouth in Long Beach. I photographed people who called the river home and others drawn there for anonymity or the barren urban scape. Once the bushy set of early Hollywood productions, the river became mostly cemented and forgotten. Now all of that is changing.[-]
